Hi! My name is Sharon Marcus. I am a certified New York City public school teacher with a Masters in Early Childhood Education from Hunter Graduate School of Education where I am also an Adjunct Professor. My name is Santina and teaching is my passion. My teaching philosophy is the goal is to encourage students to feel at ease with math. Our jobs as educators are to help others feel excited about mathematics and allow them to see how math is useful. The fun thing about math is that there can be multiple solutions to any given problem. Math is helpful especially when it is taught in a way that makes sense. Megan is a writer and artist with a passion for philosophy, creative storytelling, and illustration. She is currently a PhD candidate in Philosophy at Fordham University. She earned her undergraduate degree from Loyola University Chicago, double majoring in Political Science and Philosophy with a specialization in Social Justice. Megan has been teaching for the past 5 years in a variety of subject areas ranging from English and Social Sciences to Pre-Calculus and standardized test prep. Matthew is an engineer and writer. He is a native New Yorker who attended Brooklyn Tech, and later Penn State and Georgia Tech where he continued his studies in Mechanical and Bio Engineering. In addition to studying abroad in Poland and France, Matthew’s pursuits have taken him aboard NASA’s Weightless Wonder where he conducted experiments in microgravity. He has been published Developmental Dynamics where his paper was highlighted as “new and innovative.” He is now earning his MFA in Creative Writing at The New School, studying Writing for Children, and has been published in several literary magazines.Matthew Futterman is an engineer and writer.

I have worked in an elementary and middle school for over 15 years teaching all subject areas, with an extensive background in Special Education. I am trained in various reading intervention programs and techniques, such as the Orton Gillingham approach, PAF, and the Wilson Reading Program. I have also worked with students individually, as well as in small groups to help develop and improve their decoding and encoding skills. I attended Fordham University for my undergraduate degree as well as my Master’s degree in Childhood and Special Education. Marco Muzio earned his PhD in Physics at New York University in 2021. Before that he earned an MS and MPhil in Physics from NYU and a BS in Math and Physics from Northeastern University. Since earning his PhD, Marco has worked as an NSF postdoctoral research fellow at Pennsylvania State University and the University of Wisconsin–Madison. As a graduate student at NYU, Marco earned several awards for teaching and led a graduate course on teaching physics. He has experience working with students from the high school to the graduate level on physics, math, and scientific programming. Marco’s research is in astroparticle physics, searching for the origins of the highest energy particles ever observed: ultrahigh energy cosmic rays. His work spans theory and experiment. I have wide-ranging experience working with students in grades K-12 as a librarian, camp counselor, program facilitator, and volunteer coach and mentor. I enjoy sharing my passion for the written word and for languages with students and love seeing how they light up when they start to make connections. Hi! My name is Lauren. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Southern Connecticut State University and my master’s degree in Special Education from Lasell University, graduating with high honors from both. Over the past seven years, I’ve taught in public schools across Massachusetts, Connecticut, and now New York City, where I currently teach 4th grade. My greatest joy as a teacher is helping students build confidence and a love for reading. I believe that when students discover books they connect with, they become lifelong learners. Outside of the classroom, I’m an avid reader myself—I love finding a cozy corner and getting lost in a good book. I also enjoy spending time with friends and exploring new restaurants around the city.

I earned my master’s degree in Communications Sciences and Disorders from Teachers College Columbia University. Before I received my graduate degree, I was a preschool teacher in a 3’s classroom in Connecticut. I am currently working as a speech-language pathologist at Winston Preparatory School, a private school in Chelsea for students grades 4-12 with various learning disabilities, including dyslexia, executive functioning difficulties and nonverbal learning disorders. Past work experiences have included Bank Street Family Center, the Lang School, Premium Therapy, and Columbia University HeadStart. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and spending time outside!

Lauren is an advanced PhD Candidate and Provost’s Diversity Fellow at Columbia University in the Theatre and Performance English and Comparative Literature Department. Lauren received a BA from New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study. She is a former scholarship recipient of a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship in Senegal (2020), awarded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Here, she taught English as a second language while continuing research on the 1960s’ “Black Is Beautiful Movement” and the emergence of Pan-Africanism for her podcast, “My Colorful Nana.” As a passionate storyteller, she is primarily interested in movement building and taking an interdisciplinary approach to exploring critical global issues. She is trained in graduate-level courses highlighting the politics of visual arts, innovative education practices, and language teaching, taught by other scholars as part of an international roster of researchers from across Columbia University and New

Hello! My name is Laura. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in economics and psychology at Vanderbilt University. I completed a Masters of Science in Early Childhood Special Education (birth-second grade) at Hunter college. I am certified to teach students in both general education and special education. I have taught Kindergarten for over two years at VOICE Charter School in Long Island City, Queens. I play the flute and love to run, do yoga, and cook. I love working with children because of their curiosity, kindness, and constant ability to surprise.
