Frequently Asked Questions

Do you require a long-term commitment?

No. We do not require any contracts, pre-payment, or pre-purchasing of hours. We trust that once you meet our tutors and begin working with them, you will want to continue. The schedule is entirely up to you, though we will often recommend one based on your goals and a diagnostic exam.

Where do sessions take place?

Our tutors come to you. Sessions typically take place at your home or at any convenient location throughout New York City — a library, coffee shop, or school. We also offer online tutoring for families who prefer it or who are located outside Manhattan.

How do I get started?

Simply fill out our sign-up form with your contact and billing information and a brief description of what you are looking for. We will follow up right away to schedule your first session. Or call us at (917) 502-9108 — we are always happy to talk first.

How do you match students with tutors?

We carefully match each student with the tutor best suited to their needs, learning style, and personality. We consider the subject matter, the student’s school, and the specific goals for tutoring. If the first match isn’t perfect, we will find a better fit quickly.

Do your tutors hold advanced degrees?

Yes. Every tutor on our team holds a Master’s Degree. Many have also worked as classroom teachers at New York City’s top public and private schools. We are deliberately small so we can maintain this standard for every student we serve.

What areas of New York City do you serve?

We serve families throughout Manhattan — including the Upper East Side, Upper West Side, Midtown, and Downtown — as well as Brooklyn and surrounding neighborhoods. We also offer online tutoring for families anywhere in the greater NYC area and beyond.

Do you offer a first session guarantee?

We stand behind our tutors and our matching process. If for any reason the first session is not what you hoped, reach out to us and we will make it right — whether that means finding a different tutor or discussing what adjustments would help.
