Frequently Asked Questions

When should we start working on college admissions essays?

Ideally the summer before senior year — July or August. Starting early gives students time for multiple drafts, genuine reflection, and the best possible final product. We can also work with students on a compressed timeline if needed.

Do you help with supplemental essays as well as the Common App personal statement?

Yes. We work on the full application — personal statement, all supplemental essays, short answers, and activity descriptions. Each piece of the application tells part of the student’s story; we help students make sure those pieces work together coherently.

How many sessions does the college essay process typically take?

It varies. A student who comes in with a strong draft may need 3–5 sessions of focused editing. A student starting from scratch who needs help finding their story and developing it may need 8–12 sessions. We work at each student’s pace.

Can you help with applications to schools beyond the Ivy League?

Absolutely — and we do for most of our students. We work with applications to all types of colleges and universities, calibrating the approach to what each school is looking for.
