Rebecca T.
I am a recent magna cum laude Columbia University graduate with a degree in English. I’ve been teaching critical and creative writing throughout the greater New York City area for the past seven years to students at all levels of mastery from ages 5 through 20. Several years ago, WritopiaLab, a national youth writing workshop organization, awarded me their Community, Commitment and Writing Mentorship Award for my teaching. I have proudly served as the judge for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards for the past three years and am an editor for Roof Books, a small press that has been a stronghold for experimental writing since the 1970s. I am a curatorial fellow for the Segue Reading Series. My own writing has received wide-ranging recognition. My senior thesis was awarded the John Vincent Hickey Award for demonstrated excellence in scholarship in the field of poetry, and my collections of poetry won the Academy of American Poets Poetry prize and Columbia University's Arthur E. Ford Poetry prize. My writing has been published on BigThink, poets.com, Talking Writing, and The Millions, among other publications.
