I am a veteran NYC public school teacher who has worked with high school, middle, and elementary school students. I’ve taught mainstream and special needs students, often in integrated settings and have developed strategies to remediate academic deficits while building morale and confidence. My approach is to build on knowledge and skills a student already has as a bridge to mastering new material. I break down learning tasks into smaller chunks, setting and celebrating the achievement of short-term goals. I also stress the sharpening of executive skills such as time management, effective use of materials and work space, and self-awareness of one’s learning style and needs.

I specialized in teaching U.S. and global history, as well as English, but have prepared students for sciences courses including living environment and math from pre-algebra through algebra as well as state language arts exams for grades 3-8, and the GED, across all subjects.

Having worked with students of diverse cultural backgrounds and learning styles, I know the importance of forging a person relationship with students. I recently earned an MFA degree in Creative Nonfiction and continue to write daily and pursue publication. I love museums and hearing live music, classical and jazz, in the city.
