Mathew P

I am a mathematician and educator with an M.S. in Mathematics from the University of Rhode Island and more than 17 years of experience teaching and tutoring students. I graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Pure Mathematics from Lyndon State College and later pursued doctoral studies in mathematics at URI, completing advanced coursework and qualifying examinations in Real Analysis, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, and Measure Theory. Throughout my career, I have taught students from middle school through college at the Russian School of Mathematics, the University of Rhode Island, Bryant University in Smithfield, RI, and Saint Raphael Academy in Pawtucket, RI. I have taught everything from Algebra and Geometry to AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Calculus III, and advanced undergraduate mathematics, and I have also worked extensively as a private tutor. I have a particular passion for helping students understand why mathematics works rather than simply memorizing formulas. Outside the classroom, I have conducted independent mathematical research in dynamical systems and developed original mathematical results involving homogeneous dynamical systems and contour maps. I love challenging mathematical problems, and my goal as a tutor is to make that same sense of curiosity, discovery, and confidence accessible to every student I work with.
