Lisnerva

Hi! I’m Lisnerva Nuez, and I’m excited to be starting my 12th year as an educator! I’ve spent my career teaching and supporting elementary students, with a special focus on bilingual education and multilingual learners, and I truly love helping children discover their strengths and become more confident learners. I graduated from Tufts University, where I double majored in American Studies and Child Development and minored in Educational Studies—and apparently I really love school because I didn’t stop there! I have four master’s degrees in Bilingual Childhood Education, School Building Leadership, Library & Information Science, and Social Foundations of Education from The City College of New York, Syracuse University, and Georgia State University. I’m currently pursuing my Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Transformative School Leadership at Northeastern University. I’m also a licensed school librarian (fun fact!), which fits perfectly with my love of books and reading. Outside of school, a huge part of my life is dance! I’m a dancer, perform on dance teams, and teach dance (merengue, bachata, salsa), so I get to combine two things I absolutely love: teaching and dancing. When I’m not teaching, studying, dancing, or curled up with a good book, I love traveling, spending time with the people I love, and eating good food. Pizza is my favorite, although nothing beats my mom’s cooking! My favorite color is teal, and my favorite movies are Ever After and the animated Mulan—yes, specifically the cartoon version! Most importantly, I want my students to feel comfortable being themselves with me. Learning with me is a place to ask questions, make mistakes, laugh, try again, and celebrate every little win along the way. Even after almost 12 years in education, one of my favorite moments is still watching a student realize, “Wait…I CAN do this!”
