Daniel Laufer

Throughout my life, I have possessed a deep enthusiasm for learning and sharing my passions with others. I attended Oberlin College, where I received a B.A. in Physics and History and was awarded the Comfort Starr Prize in History, subsequently earning by M.Sc. in Physics with Extended Research from Imperial College London. I tutor for a number of boutique tutoring consultancies in London and New York, primarily focusing in physics, mathematics and history from the middle school through university level in US and UK curricula, as well as preparing students for tests such as the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, SAT and SAT subject tests, as well as the GRE and IB. These have entailed working in-person, online, as well as longer-term residential placements in the US and EU. In teaching, I strive to help others in their learning, to encourage engagement and enthusiasm in that learning, and to facilitate people acquiring the tools they need to succeed in what they set their minds to in life. I do this by carefully listening to the needs of my clients, maintaining a spirit of continual improvement in my pedagogy and giving tutees the intellectual space to discover, and express themselves with, their own voices. During my free time, I enjoy blues dancing, growing and preparing fresh foods, carrying out research at the interface between graph theory, geometry, functional analysis and statistics, and spending time with friends and family.
