Hi! I'm Blake, a mathematics educator with eight years of experience helping students build confidence, understanding, and independence in mathematics from middle school through Calculus. I earned my B.S. in Applied Mathematics from East Stroudsburg University and completed all graduate coursework in Mathematics Education at Teachers College, Columbia University, as part of a Master of Arts program. Throughout my career, I've taught in public, private, and charter schools, as well as nonprofit academic programs, working with students from a wide range of backgrounds, learning styles, and academic goals. I have experience teaching and tutoring Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Integrated Mathematics, Precalculus, and Calculus, as well as preparing students for the SHSAT, SSAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT, and New York State Regents examinations. I also have experience supporting students with ADHD, autism, executive functioning challenges, and math anxiety, and I believe every student can succeed when instruction is personalized to the way they learn best. Whether a student needs additional support, is striving for top scores, or is seeking greater academic challenge, I strive to meet them where they are while helping them reach their full potential. My goal is never simply to help students complete tonight's homework—it is to help them become confident, independent problem-solvers who understand why mathematics works. By emphasizing conceptual understanding over memorization, I help students develop mathematical intuition, higher-order thinking skills, and the ability to analyze unfamiliar problems with confidence. I want students to leave each session not only knowing what to do, but understanding why it works and how to apply those ideas in new situations long after our work together. Outside the classroom, I enjoy photography, exploring New York City, and continually learning about mathematics and learning theory. Nothing is more rewarding than watching a student realize they are capable of solving problems they once believed were impossible, and I look forward to helping every student achieve both academic success and lasting confidence.
