Hi! My name is Joana, and I am a certified elementary school teacher with several years of experience teaching in New York City public schools. Throughout my career, I have taught students from Pre-K through fifth grade, with my current role as a first-grade general education teacher. I earned my bachelor's degree in Social Work and my master's degree in Early Childhood Education, and I am passionate about helping children build confidence and reach their full potential. I believe every child learns differently, so I tailor each lesson to their unique strengths, needs, and learning style. I have experience teaching phonics, reading, writing, and elementary math, and I strive to make learning engaging, supportive, and enjoyable. My goal is to create a positive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking on challenges, and celebrating their progress. Outside of teaching, I enjoy staying active through fitness, salsa dancing, and spending time with family and friends. I look forward to partnering with your family to help your child grow academically, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
