Kaitlyn B.

Hi, I’m Kaitlyn! I’m a native New Yorker (raised on Long Island) and now live in Astoria, Queens. I earned my undergraduate degree from Bucknell University and my PhD in Biomedical Sciences from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. I’ve always been passionate about both science and teaching, and I have several years of experience working with students from high school through the graduate level. I’ve served as a Biology lab TA and tutor in biology and organic chemistry, and during my PhD training I mentored students and trained colleagues in scientific thinking, problem-solving, and laboratory techniques. As I work toward my long-term goal of becoming a university professor, tutoring is an exciting and meaningful part of my journey.

I primarily tutor biology, chemistry, and math. My goal is to help students build strong foundations, gain confidence, and feel comfortable asking questions. I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where challenging material becomes manageable—and even interesting! I truly believe every student can grow with the right guidance and approach.

Outside of academics, I love science documentaries, singing (I even taught myself some music theory just for fun), hiking in the Catskills, cooking, podcasting, enjoying stand-up comedy, and spending time with my cat Dexter.
