Dyslexia tutoring that makes a difference – An Orton Gillingham approach to literacy.

Executive Functioning Tutors

Dyslexia tutoring and help for students who struggle with reading and writing.

Through following the Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching reading and writing, we have made great strides in improving our students literacy and hope you will consider us to work with you or your children.

The Orton Gillingham method of teaching fluency explicitly and through multi-sensory activities has proven again and again capable of helping struggling readers understand those aspects of reading and writing fluency that had eluded them.

All of our Literacy Specialists are trained in working with dyslexic students, base their approach on the Orton-Gillingham method, and use Orton Gillingam based materials such as Wilson and Fundations.

Our approach is to begin by assessing students through a staged skill level and grade level assessment and then to begin working with students based on structured and high interest material. Once we understand where our students are beginning from, we can carefully guide them through a comprehensive approach to reading and writing.

Please note: when working with dyslexic students, it is recommended that students meet twice a week with a reading specialist for at least an hour.  Generally, results will come about over the course of 1 to 2 years, and often not more quickly than that. Please do NOT expect to see results more quickly than that, but please DO expect to see significant results in that time frame. It is possible for the vast majority of dyslexic students to learn to read and write fluently!
