I am a New York State Professionally Certified Teacher. I have a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Teaching from Columbia, Teachers College. I also have a dual BS degree in Elementary Education/Sociology.
I love to learn and experience new things.
I love to share the following activities with others because I am passionate about them: swimming, yoga, arts and crafts, painting, drawing, baking/cooking, reading, writing, experimenting, movies, music, goal-setting, self-improvement, etc...
Other interests I am pursuing right now include: investing, property management, mentoring/coaching, health/nutrition, non-profit organizations, travel, learning new languages, blogging, inventions, coding and STEAM programs. I am also very interested in trying active sports such as, rock climbing, sky diving, zip lining, surfing, and so on. I will try almost anything at least once.
I have worked in the NYC charter school system for 5 years, in the South Bronx, as well as Harlem. I have also tutored professionally and privately, at various institutions for over ten years.
Taking on a holistic approach, I utilize differentiation to meet the diverse needs of students, and support growth in various areas of development. I hold steadfast to the idea that we need to invest in building a foundation for a love of life-long learning in our students. I firmly believe every child can and will succeed if we encourage students to reach high expectations, think critically, ask questions, work collaboratively to form solutions, and take asocial justice. I also believe every child learns differently. Therefore, every child can succeed when given the most favorable support and guidance. I will be committed to meeting these needs and making sure your child succeeds!!
