Emily S.
I graduated summa cum laude from Cornell University with a BA in English literature, and then received my MA in English Education from Stanford University. I am currently a Ph.D. student at Columbia University, studying 19th Century British Literature--though I'm very passionate about all forms of literature. I used to teach English Language and Literature to high school juniors and seniors, and my favorite class that I taught was a Science Fiction literature elective. At Cornell, I tutored for their Writing Workshop, and at Stanford I received a teaching credential along with my MA that certifies me to teach English Language and Literature with an English Learner Authorization, which means I am formally trained in helping English Language Learners as well as native English speakers. In my free time, I tutor with the Petey Greene Program, which is an organization that provides academic enrichment to incarcerated youths. I am always excited to get to work with my students--tutoring is consistently the best part of my day!
