Emily M
Emily is a writer and teacher from Brooklyn. After graduating from Brooklyn Friends School, she went on to Brown University where she studied Literary and Visual Arts. She has seven years of classroom teaching experience, ranging from Kindergarten in northern Thailand, to Preschool 4’s back at Brooklyn Friends School, to teaching First-Year Seminars in English and Composition at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she earned an MFA in Creative Writing. She then ran the Brooklyn Friends After School Academic Support program for many years and has since taught writing to students of all ages. Her work can be found in journals like The Denver Quarterly and The Iowa Review, and also in experimental poetry publications like The Recluse and Prelude. She is one half of the band Permanent Six Flags and helps to run a record label called Reading Group.
